We are 2 design industry pros constantly churning fresh ideas, new trend, while thinking about our strengths and weaknesses and USP. It's a constant drive to refine our practices to give the best. Our own career training consists of on Seraina's side, a proper 5 year design apprenticeship +15 years studio management, all made in Switzerland which makes her a rare breed. My training started with a fine art career and 2 year apprenticeship in the sign trade, LCC 1 year graphics studio practices, LCC CAD training, 25 years senior/HO home interiors product design (Pottery Barn, Laura Ashley, Designers Guild, Next, Qoooltango, Lala Curio). All crammed alongside my 35 year lettering career. That's a very strong origin. A pure design-led DNA.  OUR SERAINA THE ‘S’ IN NGS NGS’s Seraina Baumgartner (the one chewing her brush) hails from Zurich and joined me as a sign painter and gilder in 2019. With a background in fine art, screen printing, design management and graphic signage (more of a mouthful than that brush!), she got the job. A superb eye for detail, specialising in fine numeral styles and heritage designs. NGS MANTRA HARD WORK ETHIC & A DASH OF MAGIC Client success is our motivation. I have always believed in finding magic –  magic only really happens by starting with the pencil drawing.“Draw solely with lines and you will become a very good artist.”Ingres BY HEART:  SHARING THE LOVE OF ART ABOUT NICK My mum pushed me relentlessly into a creative career since I was knee high, so it always felt natural for me to draw. It was centering for me spending hours alongside her dad, my letter carver grandfather, chiselling his ‘London Romans’ in his tiny workshop in Putney. Hours that shaped my life of letters and seeded a sharing philosophy.  I’ve studied art history and delved deeper into painting techniques, passing on these skills throughout my career. Paula’s Google Review: I phoned Nick and five days later had numbers painted on our house. Quick to respond, professional and good fun too. These studies reinforced my typographic knowledge and refined the work I do for you, through to NGS custom font creation and other typographic design projects. It's sharpened up how we visualise your sign, convey designs and deliver. LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS "I sold my fave car and went to Rome! Drew for hours from Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel." "Working from the greats gets into one’s marrow... your shapes become like fruit, crisp and graceful. But it doesn't just happen overnight. It ripens over the years. I believe it's a helluva gift."
