NILLY’S: Out of the frying pan and into the fire of passion…

Some projects come along and signal a special moment on the horizon, for all. A personal revival story emerged from the memories shared prior to, and on the day with Nilly.

How her family established this fish n chip shop in Kirkdale south London… the pandemic took it’s toll and with a lot of TLC and design skills from Nilly and her hubs, this place once again (and reflected on all day by the locals recovering community), is rising and serving home cooked specialities.

The design path developed this rythmic script and it wasn’t a smooth easy journey for her at times, bringing to the surface emotions and challenges… but with a gentle team and support structure it all came together safely.

Nilly’s words:

”In the summer of 2022 I reclaimed an ailing family business and wanted to splurge on a banging sign design. The shop has changed names over the years and as I was playing around with some keywords in Google, I happened upon Nick Garrett’s work.

When I came across the designs Nick had created and read about him some more, I knew instantly that this was my guy.

”Nick’s work speaks the feel”

It drips with classiness, soul, and creative flair that I felt immediately drawn to.

The name I settled on was simple and very meaningful to me – my own.

I reached out to Nick to get the ball rolling immediately and was so surprised to feel seen,
understood, and celebrated. It’s not easy to be that good! His warm way with me helped me to
see some challenges and interpret the creative solution with ease and mastery.

The day of the sign painting, I spent the whole time watching Nick & Seraina paint and
documenting the experience; it’s a memory I’ll always cherish. To witness a genius at work is an
experience never to be missed, I was blessed to get this rare chance with Nick.

I consider my shop’s sign a work of art and this gives me perpetual joy whenever I see it or
customers / passers by stop me to share their delight.

Nick Garrett is a true master and one I’ve had the honour and privilege to witness his craft in
motion. I look forward to working with him again in future pursuits.
