Destiny meets my art – Gold gift house numbers
Shells were always fascinating me and I used to collect some whenever I had the chance to be on a beach as a kid. But I really started to get blissfully addicted when I moved to the Margate and Cliftonville coast on the Isle of Thanet, Kent, UK.
A whole new world of forms and colours was opening up for me, and I couldn’t resist to collect and collect and collect… and they started to lay around everywhere in my flat and studio.
ABOUT THESE SHELLS
Shells are revered by many ancient cultures as symbols of pure positivity.
Oysters were especially taking my attention.
That contrast of a wild rough exterior and silky inside is fascinating and beautiful.
Like landscapes made of stone and ivory. I want to keep all the natural given beauty of the shells as much as possible. That’s why I decided to clean them as sustainably as possible. I don’t use any bleachers or other hard chemicals.
This organic process needs a little more time, but the shells deserve it and glow brighter!

Every shell is naturally a unique piece. I care about using only the best materials such as high quality gold leaf and enamels. All the colors I paint with are specially matched for every single shell gift.
It’s an art creating these pieces but also a special felt, intuitive process collecting along the miles of raw beaches by my home.
A shell travels around the world thousands of miles… It was just a matter of time before I found me the special ones and started to paint and gild them… and a matter of months before Margate transformed into one of UK’s most dynamic art hubs!
