Project enquiry had lead time of 2 weeks which was enough to set up and clear designs with the Hackney Borough Listed Buildings permission for change process.

DESIGN
The logo we received was set in Copperplate font. The layout which would need re-setting for the fascias of this beautiful shop, was slightly overweighted to my eye. I set about refining the font and creating ‘NGS Scepter Copperplate’ typeface font style below.

Client requested a 3 dimensional chisel/incised render in gold leaf and I noted the form would work well with a soft white outline.

.
The above font was the first and final version submitted – which was a rarity for such instant approval and fair joy to anticipate the gilding process on site.
The Copperplate font was refined and beautified along the lines of the original Kensington and Chelsea characters discovered at The Crown and Sceptre pub.

The font required various changes to bring it in line with the original vintage Victorian Copperplate the we always use.

Below a fine lady stopped to chat, telling me about her late husband who was also a sign writer.

SITE OF INSPIRATION – Chelsea and Kensingon

FINDING INSPIRATION FOR THE PROJECT

These gems above were sitting in the local pub just round the corner from our big ‘Oaklands Court’ project, which finished two days before T&G start-up.
Coincidences like this often happen when you are fully submerged in the process.
.
With the layout approved, and Oaklands Court project all finished, we set off to Angel, full of ideas.
