Our close to home, high street jobs are specialist projects in terms of genuine creativity, skills and design integrity. Aside from the super cool artistry, and design skills we love to hang-out in, they need to always reside in an strictly ‘affordable’ budget range.
Thankfully, these projects are not usually requiring out-of-the-norm expensive materials, such as gold leaf, or deep-end design workarounds. So our prices should not break the bank and come as a shock.
For these mainstream clients our prices are exactly where they need to be – affordable.
Two tiers, because our signs are always finished to incredibly high standards of craft.
”For high street signage we price it on Point and Terra Firma – we know the boots ‘n braces budget range, so for our mainstream clients, it’s grounded, and reliable.
For higher-end tier projects for say, Fred Perry or say Amazon, we are asked to reflect a premium workaround, usually in terms of stellar global branding specifications, which usually requires a more, integrated, far reaching (graphic) design process.
Specialist sector clients are therefore recruiting the value of our architectural and typographic knowledge, and will demand over and above our more cosy, high street client requirements. It’s great to have them both, and sprinkle the magic across each design worlds”.

‘I had a phone call the other day, just as I was finishing on site in Chelsea and the client out of the blue asked me, when the earliest I could get to do a Job in Chelsea… I said in about ten minutes… he nearly fell over!’

The above story doesn’t happen every day, but in this case I was just round the corner, so I swung by, and got his contract finished.
He was overdue quite a large final balance payment, having painted a big Pimlico house front… so he was desperate to complete the job and get paid.
I headed to him and got it done fast and fab: he was over the moon, immediately able to invoice and get me paid… he gave me a nice tip which was well appreciated! I charged him 120.00
The clincher: I knew where he was coming from…
I knew he needed the number on the house to finish the job. But I quoted him 60.00 lower than usual…
Why? Because it was a bonus job for me, and it helped to him out. As my decorator bud Ray Walker would say ‘a brother of the brush’… with the mutual good all done – he’s now a regular customer.

BEING PURELY PRICE BASED OR FINDING THE BALANCE
Going hard on price guarantees you are likely to get a good deal at first glance. But down the track the sign you buy just won’t deliver.
Winning business is why we are all here. For us to win 90% of our customer enquiries, that come in from the NGS website, would mean our prices are too low.
We aim to win 50-75% of all ‘price-based’ NGS enquiries. That way we can guarantee our clients 100% return in 14-30 days on their sign outlay.

CASE: The Globe pub, Marylebone, London:
Before we redesigned it the pub was beyond hope.
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR MAKEOVER SUCCESS | NGS
History: The sign was acquired in a near derelict state with failing turnover and in untenable dilapidated condition.
NGS 8 week project of full interior and signage fit-out, saw the place open with new ID and new clientele. Designs all targeted the Paribas bank London office 150m away, with London Soho Type/Font with French font characteristics added to characters.
This registered sub-conscious European ‘open door’ warmth and familiarity.
